Park Rangers and volunteers from the Perry International Victory & Peace Memorial will be demonstrating the proper firing of Historic Firearms and the Park’s carronade throughout the day. There will be Ranger programs open to the public that will cover the nuances of the 1812 military uniform, How to fire a musket as well as the proper handling of black powder.

The carronade is a small short-barrel gun like those used during the Battle of Lake Erie and will be fired by the Park’s Gun Crew. The Carronade program will review and demonstrate the proper steps in firing this short range gun and its limitations during the Battle of Lake Erie. There will be Historic Firearms demonstrations at 11 am, 3, and 5 pm. Carronade demonstrations will be given at noon, 2, and 4 pm.

At 1:00 pm kids will be invited to “Join The Army” in a special program led by Park Rangers. All events will be taking place on the grounds of the Perry Victory & International Peace Memorial. This is a great free family event and filled with Put-in-Bay History.
