Random Fact: First recorded visit to Middle Bass Island took place in 1679 when French explorer LaSalle dropped anchor off his sailing ship Griffin. Relics and tools found on Middle Bass suggest that this area was also used by Native Americans and early settlers as an island pathway, a stepping stone, as they traversed across Lake Erie.
